"Can Union Cooperatives Save Democracy?"

An excellent and lengthy essay, Can Union Cooperatives Save Democracy? has just been posted by John Clay at his Democratic Promise website. Clay covers many issues around formation of worker-owned cooperatives and sustaining these democratic businesses and worksites.  His essay was picked up by truthout.org, and from there it was brought to the attention of more cooperatives by the National Cooperative Business Assocation in its July 12 online Cooperative Business Journal, at ncba.coop.

Clay's essay covers a lot of essential ground and is highly recommended for anyone interested in the present and future state of worker cooperatives in the U.S.  He indicates how the U.S. Steelworkers Union and its allies are attempting to learn from the best of European and U.S. worker cooperative experience.
